Lyndon and his brother (unnamed in canon) grew up as penniless orphans within the city of Kingsport, famed for its naval trade (to which he adds "and endless nets of reeking fish"). Lyndon developed a skill for stealing and became a thief, while his brother became a city guard. At some time Lyndon fell madly in love with a woman who choose to marry his brother instead of him.

As a member of the thieves guild Lyndon would occasionally tip off his brother, who would appear to get lucky and show up just in time to catch the thieves. However one time Lyndon's brother showed up too early and, already under suspicion for his habit of knowing just when the thieves were going to strike, was accused of being in league with them and was thrown in prison. Lyndon's sister-in-law believed that Lyndon had set his brother up, and convinced her husband of the same thing.

With his only family thinking he'd betrayed them and the thieves guild out for revenge, Lyndon was forced to flee the city. Since then he sends much of the gold he makes to his brother's family back home, who do not even so much as send letters to him.

The Hero meets the Scoundrel while traveling to the Drowned Temple in search of the second fragment of the sword belonging the Archangel Tyrael. Lyndon has wooed and seduced a farmer's daughter to obtain a precious relic, a family heirloom, when the Thieves' Guild arrives after the treasure and after Lyndon himself. After the battle, the Scoundrel volunteers to help the Hero on her quest and mission against the Lords of Hell, a quite surprising turn of events given the man's perceived amoral ways.

Lyndon fights with ranged weapons, allowing him to keep his distance from enemies, firing quick and precise shots to cripple, poison, stun and in general damage them. Lyndon also carries pieces of unique equipment with him, mementos of a life guided by wit and luck.

If surrounded, the Scoundrel will try to blind enemies with dust he carries in a bag and use alchemical smoke bombs to evade attacks while moving back into long range. While he carries a dagger, he will not use it in combat unless completely out of options.

Lyndon is a charming man in his own way, full of a mix of bravado and self-confidence, a gambler and pick-pocketer when need or opportunity presents itself.

In retrospect, trying to steal the many riches of that big house was not the best idea: it was located on Palace Square, where once the house of the governor stood, and the area was still high-scale enough to warrant extra City Watch patrols and even private guardsmen. But the prize was great, jewels and gold, things of great value and easy to transport if one were discriminating.

Too discriminating, perhaps.

The residents came back early (or rather, too early for the scoundrel's convenience) and found an uninvited guest midway into the third sorting of valuables for maximum portability and value. If circumstances were different, he could have taken a hostage and dominated the situation; the known truculence of the Watch would certainly lead to a fight where many would lose blood and perhaps even their lives.

Himself included.

A hasty retreat, a run through alleys and back streets, a smidgen of admiration for the persistence of the guards, and lo! a door. It should take him to an old market building with plenty of locked stalls and tents and stacked up goods, a maze with many exits where someone quick of feet and thinking could enact an easy escape.

He really was not expecting what he found on the other side of that door...
